 1. ROBOTS ...Got to see Marshall Brain speak, he's the futurist who invented http://howstuffworks.com.

One of his soapbox items was: Our bodies are fragile, how long until we suck our brains out into a jar and let android bodies run around for us and just "feed" us the experience? The answer, never for most of us, but for some, it's already happening through video games, Facebook, and that stupid-ass Twitter fad. The Twits idea is good, it's just very few people are good at sound bytes.

2: TOURISM DOMINATION...Brain thinks that as our society becomes robotic, in a perfect world, everyone would have tons of time for tourism and therefore, that industry should thrive.

Should is the key word, because as the rich get richer and the rest of us get desperate, what are the chances this utopian world is going to trickle down? Not much at all. Sure, the rich will benefit, but a lifetime of leisure for all? Try and sell that to the Greedpublicans.

3: ANTI-NEPOTISM...Mountain Sports Media (SKI, Skiing, Warren Miller) hired out-of-mountain for their new publisher. The guy's got massive financial chops, but ski industry chops, hasn't earned 'em yet. Everyone hopes he can turn. Jacobs, Petrick, Wardlaw, Jarnot, Nyberg, those guys can spot weekend warrior.

Has Katz worked for Vail? Has Koenig? Did Mainzer, or White, or Aaron? The offworlders always bolt eventually, and there used to be a "Dead Pool" bet among a bunch of young ski industry turks to see how long these guys would last. Five years, three, four...?

Why don't these positions go to those we've raised? Your opinions please.....

It's time to face facts.

1. Our guests are already partially robotic. Prosthetic hips and knees help baby boomers continue enjoying our product well into their days as grandparents. We think technology like iPhones, Facebook and Twitter really enhance the social experience while skiing, keep people safe and improve the overall brand experience.

2. Pass prices are down this year, so people like yourself and our lower demographic guests can keep coming, as long as you help us balance out the cash flow and put a few million in the bank during the slow quarters. Adam Aaron really turned Vail around. And Jamie did a great job for Time Warner. It's not just about how hard you charge on the hill, but how much we charge at the point of sale, and how little marketing can charge on their corporate AMEX to feed a bunch of desperate ski journalists who have been to Vail a dozen times and could write a great article from the safety and comfort of their office. Seriously.

3. The truth of the matter is, we understand the customer in ways that you can't fathom. Sure it's nice to live in a ski town and get on the first lift every day (although my wife might disagree), but most people live in the suburbs, wake up godawful early and drive for a couple hours before dawn on slick roads with expensive gas to enjoy our product.

I'm curious what part of the product we enjoy most of all, is it

A) the turns
B) driving around the suburbs with ski racks on our roofs that we don't need because we haven't bought a pair of skis over 170s in five years.
C) the pleasant drive home with our family and our boots after a long day on the hill (Clark Griswold: "I know that smell")
